NIckinSurrey 6 Posted June 24, 2012 Author Report Share Posted June 24, 2012 That didn't go well. I made contact via the website and agreed a time to meet at the club. My request for directions went unanswered but went along anyhow as arranged but the guy who was supposed to meet me did not show up. It was a bit of a job to find but i knew the rough location and followed the noise. After hanging about for 20 minutes a friendly member did show me round which was very welcome and interesting. Hung about for another half hour - still no show so decided to leave. Found my car blocked in by a rather aggressive bloke. (not having been sent directions I was unaware that I should have parked in a carpark across the road). Still no response to my follow-up e-mail asking for membership info and what to do next. I didn't feel very welcome at the one up by me, went 3 times and people just felt hostile like I shouldn't be joining their club! I think it gets very territorial with alot of old timers thinking they own the place. When you do find a club that are helpful and welcoming suck it up because from my own Experiance and listening to others they can be hostile places! Quote Link to post

He apologised as he has been ill which is fair enough so things may not be as bad as I was left feeling at the time. It does not excuse Mr Rude but I guess any club has its share of those.
