adamb20 22
Ive just bought an eleven month old german shepherd cross collie but is just like a German shepherd. I've bought him to guard the lurchers as they are now at the stables and there isn't always somebody on sight. He is very quiet at the moment but I'm just putting that down to new surroundings. I would just like some tips on what I should do with him from now on to get the most out of him as I'm new to guard dogs. Cheers

beast 1,884
a noisy yard dog is one thing, but just be very careful if you are training any dog for man-work. if you get it wrong you can end up with a very dangerous creature on your hands; think about kids wandering into your yard or even expensive law-suits if someone gets hurt. remember that burglars have successfully sued for damage caused by dogs which were simply protecting their masters property. not trying to be negative, just a friendly word of advice. good luck with the dog
