Ive tried to find info on the web but cannot?

Does anyone know how to grow them from their seeds please?

Will i have to store them outside or put them in the fridge or will a shed be ok...will they grow at normal room temp, colder or higher?

Ive already got the bulbs, i want to grow more of them from their seeds instead, i like growing my own flowers veg etc. Just wanted to try to see if i could.

It seems such a waste throwing perfectly good seed heads away every year.

Growing from seed...I've been told that if you do this...the plants may be smaller than the parents and the colour may also be different. I saw some lillies gone to seed and cheap in the local garden centre last year...i planted 3 bulbs and spread 3 seed pods round about...this year theres over 20...The lillies at the moment are as big as the parents, as to colour it's still wait and see. From some of this years Daffs and Tulips i've just chucked the seeds here and there, if they come they come...That said, I planted around 1000 daff and narcissus bulbs last year :icon_eek: Over half on someone else's land :tongue2: 2 NightShifts ;) Well...if the bees wake up early they need something :hmm: I was told i was "nobbut a greenfinger fkin terrarist" by a fella, whose gonna have some lovely sunflowers in his garden come July :laugh:B) What i've planned for this Septembers a stonker and should bring a smile to many faces come january :D Keep on Digging

Im not bothered if they change T.F, although i would like them to stay the same. Thing is i bought literally hundreds of bulbs last year, direct from a bulb supplier, spent loads of money :o

Now they have bloomed its not as good a show as i'd liked. The garden is big and needs alot more, so i'd like to try growing them myself, than break the bank again.

dry the seeds as normal a week in the shed in daylight on paper then store the in a wooden drawer in the shed try and use brown or plain paper not news paper cover with paper and do it in layers and spread them out as much as you can they have to be dry and kept in the dark moll the temp does not effect them once dry ....hope this helps .. thats how my grandad use to do it moll and he did it for fifty years with various flowers ... :victory:

If you can give me a day or two I will quiz the boss. Work in the nursery of a National Trust garden, so someone there should know. I should be going in on tuesday, and will try and remember to ask. If you have any other queries re gardens, let me know, I will ask it all at the same time, Good to get the guys to do something for once!

Had daffs written on my hand since yesturday! so heres the answer!

Head Gardner of Our National Trust say that although you can grow from seed Daffodils will take several years before they are anything worth having  A good company that sells bulbs in bulk then try and contact Fenton Golan near Truro. Telephone number 01872 520209. Think they better value than some of the larger companies, hope this is of some help, they do mail order apparently :D
