Help needed choosing new camera

Recommended Posts

As above. I finally decided to upgrade (not that it will help, my shit pics will just seem closer LOL)

I'm gonna go for a bridge camera. My requirements are:

1. Must be reasonably small and light.

2. Must be reasonably robust.

3. Must have a decent zoom (usually have four dogs with me when out snapping)

3. Must be able to be used to some degree of competance by an idiot.

Don't have a budget as such but don't really want to spend much above 200 notes so here is my short list if anyone has any experience/knowledge of any of the following I would be grateful.

Olympus SP 810UZ (first choice)

Canon Powershot SX40

Nikon Coolpix P500

Sony Cybershot HX 100V

Also had Lumix FZ150 and Fuji Finepix HS20 on the list but discounted The Lumix because of lesser zoom (24X compared to 36 X for the others and discounted the Fuji as all the reviews I've read say it's way, way too technical and is not for a beginner tio this genre LOL).

Any help or comments appreciated.

Cheers, D.

for £200 you can get a secondhand dslr

Wondered who'd be the first to say that :toast:

Look at my requirements LOL

I had the chance of the use of one (eos 350) for a few weeks last year.

It scared the shit out of me :icon_redface::blink::yes::laugh:

ive one here you can have for that and i will give you two lenses with it. they are easier to use than a bridge or compact. with a full auto.(idiot ) mode. thats what i mostly use  .

and loads of modes you would see on a bridge/compact. trust me you should get one ;)

Here's a couple pics dytkos, the second pic is a close up of one of the lads taken from the same spot that the first pic was taken, you can just make him out at the top of the mound in the first pic. This was using the full 36x wide optical zoom, but take into consideration that ive not got a steady hand but camera still takes quality pics.

Cheers mate. That looks pretty good to me!

Is it "imbecile friendly" straight out of the box? :icon_redface:

Cheers D.

PS. Please keep replying, I've got many, many more questions!

Cheers, D.
