with a brief window in the weather conditions i decided to make the most of this morning and drove through to my permission in the search for a bit of sport. any way 1st squirrel was put up a tree by koda and after a bit of a chase around the tree [now you see me now you dont] game ,i finally managed to place the crosshairs in a kill zone -this time lungs heart shot and down it came hitting some big tree limbs on way down probably breaking its back by the summersaults it pulled off! ,one in the bag and dog not too pleased that i picked it up and bagged it :hmm: we walked a fair old distance and koda sat looking up at a fir tree indicating something was about .On further inspection i found it and it was another squirrel but i wasnt about to shoot this one as it was a beautiful red squirrell that just sat there looking down at the dog ,i pulled myself away and agood hour went by before i spotted my next target sunning itself in a big old larch and after telling koda to stay i got within range and down it came stone dead! koda knew what was comming and we walked away afair distance andi then sent him"back" to retrieve it which he did perfectly. Iput koda in the motor and i sat for another hour and managed 2 woodies that i left in the forest opening and got the dog to "find" and he retrieved both so i was well pleased -ps oh and koda put a hen pheasant up and on further inspection i found a nest of 16 eggs so will inform the keeper in case he wants to incubate them -billy

Red Squirrel! Fantastic stuff, not seen any our way, i've heard they are being re-introduced. Good shooting buddy, i'm about to head out in a min myself.

Oh and which gun did you take?
