Greyhound / Running Dog Injury Specialist

Recommended Posts

Just browsing through the internet there are lots of veterinary practices but you dont see many Greyhound or Running dog injury specialist about. Do you think that there is much demand for them around the Uk? Also i know you would take your dog to a vet for further examination but from a running injury would you seek advice and treatment from a Greyhound / Running dog Injury Specialist (that is local to you of course) that sees this sort of injury every day or go and seek advice and treatment at your local vet?

ive used greyhound vets on my lurcher and ive also used a greyhound osteopath (bone man/muscle man)on my lurcher . if you know that theres something wrong with your dog, hes under performing not turning or streaching out properly but has no signs of visible injury then i would seek the help of an osteopath/muscleman ,these are fairly cheep ,they normally charge between £10-£20 pounds for an examination they pull and streach your dog and find any injurys/niggles and tell you how to treat them they dont do xrays or give any medication .

if your dogs got a visible injury swelling ect ,then i would take it to a greyhound vet ,they are far cheeper than PET VETS they normally charge less for opperations, meds, xrays ect .

these vets deal with running injurys on a daily basis and know their stuff.

if you take your dog to a PET VETS they just try and have your pants down ,first of all they want to xray ,they are useless at finding injurys and there normal diagnosis is ,ITS PROBABLY JUST A STRAIN ,JUST REST ,AND COME BACK IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS ,HO AND THATS A COUPLE OF HUNDRED QUID ...THANKS .

hope this helps and saves you a few quid ....jim
