jultaylor1972 2
"I lost my ferret this morning, he died suddenly and I was at a loss to why. After posting about it on a hunting forum, I was then reliably informed the nice people who make Jeyes fluid have removed the Coal tar acids and replaced it with a chemical that is lethal to ferrets, It gets in through thier paw pads, builds up and a quick death. So this is a warning if you do use Jeyes on your ferret runs and cages!" I read this on Fieldsports Extreme and thought it best to put it here for all to see. Quote Link to post
Ossie 11
thank f**k i don't use Jeyes! i'd better tell my dad.. saying that; he's a horder. i don't think he's bought a new bottle of jeyes in the last 20 years! Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
F*cking hell, Jul! Well, 1. No one in their right mind would ever let their creatures walk about on 'wet' Jeyes anyway. 2. Has this been confirmed by the people who produce " Jeyes " (I forget their name now) and 3. If it turns out to be true, then who ever's making the stuff ought to put that on the Label! Chrissake; Ye can't buy a jar of peanut butter these days without the label stating, " This Product Contains Peanuts ". That's put there partly because they're scared to death of some c*** allergic to the things eating it, shrivelling up and then suing their skin off. Partly because the HSE are so on top of this shit it 'Has to' be done. Consider a 'Fur Farmer' (Yes; They farm more than just mink, ye know ) who's always used Jeyes and now loses his entire stock and livelihood because they alter the ingrediants and don't warn people it's liable to cause massacre mustalidae? Having said all that - if only to give my head a break from uploading moth shots ~ see elsewhere - I'd want to read the pukka evidence first. " Reliably informed " on a forum post hardly adds up to incontravertable, let's go to court over this, evidence to me. Coal Tar Acids have, of course, been linked to cancer in humans of late. So could be being given one by Ditch Shitter or kissing the Blarney Stone, no doubt; Given enough bloody " Scientists " looking for that next grant But we'd need to know what this new, killer ingrediant is and, at least, how and why it effects mustalids. How did these ferrets die? Time scale? Symptoms? Case history? Post mortem results? Does the whistle blower provide this? Or does he just say " My ferrets are dead. I blame Jeyes! " Enquiring minds at work here ..... Quote Link to post
Ossie 11
i live a few miles from the factory. i'll pop into the office next time i'm over that way, and get it straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Get it in writing, Ossie! What ever " Angie, the Receptionist " may babble at ye in person wouldn't be worth shit. Give her an e mail addy and tell her that mustaild keepers, nation wide, have now been warned off of their product ~ and Dog keepers will be holding their breath too. That had better bring a bloody good response, or else ..... Quote Link to post
