you'll know when she's in heat as her vulva will swell and protude outwards, just pick her up, lift tail and LOOK

 

jill's dont atomatically die if not mated, its just a swollen vulva so near to the floor is a good place for infection to enter, therefore if you have no hob to use, just make sure you keep her cage/court 100% clean

Ferrets come in to season when theres roughly 18 hours daylight, but they seem to be coming in earlier than the traditional spring time , my two had visable balls late last year & are still togeher now although there clearly in season as they smell lovely :icon_redface:

 

Your Jill (assumeyou have a jill) wont come out of season untill the nights start to draw in , so to reduce the swelling before then she would either have tobe mated,jill jabbed or run with a V hob,or speyed.
