jhiggins 48
Got a great bit of permission for the dogs but the bunnies are a little bit wise to the lamp. Im going out tomorow night and i was going to try changing the colour of the beam. Ive shot on a red lamp before and i was going to try that again. Anyone made a DIY filter, i was thinking of using red cellophane?? Any comments much appreciated Quote Link to post
BrianSteven72 369
Be carefull the lamp will melt it in about 30 seconds and it will stick to the lense and casing Quote Link to post

hutch6 550
I bought an A4 folder, the type you get for school kids, that was made of reasonably thick transparent red plastic. I took the lense cap off the lamp I use (just a 1M candle power torch), drew aroudn the cap with a CD writer pen, cut the circles out (made two so I could adjust the strength of beam) and slipped them into the lense holder. Worked a treat and as the lamp is only on for a few seconds at a time - 30secs max - the discs didn't even get warm. Quote Link to post
BrianSteven72 369
if your lucky enough to get some sorte of materiel that is heat resistan you possibly could get away with it Quote Link to post
Tiny 7 1,694
Iv made homemade fitlers out of alsorts, Green use a cider bottle/ lilt bottle, Yellow/orange get another cider sort of bottle, Red use a tizers bottle ect ect, (Just look out for a colour you fancey) Then i just cut it lenght ways up the bottle cut top and bottom off, Get a ceral box cut it open down one of the corners so it opens right out like a flat pack, Unscrew your head on your lamp and wrap the cardboard round it so it fits JUST as it will have to slide on and off easythen trim all the extra cardborad off, Then just do lashing of tape round the cardboard so it goes ridged, Then open up the bottle palstic and draw round it with the head of the lamp and cut it out just a cm bigger so its easys over laps and then tape it to you ridged card discm Make sure its fitted soild too the cardboard and then i used ducktape too tape over the full thing too make it strong and keeps its shape and job done, Bit of string type thing taped too the fitler and tied off too the lamp, That way you can drop the filter while lamping without loseing it and keeps your hand free.... Or If you dont fancey that there about £20 to buy Quote Link to post

shaunpauls7 131
Depending on the size of your lamp a lad i lamped with a few seasons ago cut a circle out of a xbox game case and attached it to a small hinge onto his lamp and it worked well.Only problem being your filter will be green. But it seemed to work. Atb Quote Link to post
jhiggins 48
Thanks for all the advice, im very impressed with all the initiative!! Going with the disco gels i think, i have no idea what type of lamp it is so trying to buy a filter to fit may be a challenge. Thanks all the same. I did the bit of ground in mentioned without any filter again on saturday but i went round it a different way. Had much more success. My mates whippet cross nailed 4 out of 5 runs which was great to see. Thanks again Quote Link to post
