Just wondering are any of yere dogs bad fighters? My dog in the last month has gone abit nuts and wanted to fight with every dog hes come across! :censored: Before that I could walk anywhere with him and if a dog tried to fight him hed always back down and generally was a nice quite dog and a bit wary of people he didnt know. Now if he doesnt know you and you go into the back garden without me your not getting out :D Which I dont mind but the fighting bit is getting on my nerves :censored: Hes 18 months, anyone any idea of this change in him?

has he been to any quarry that bites back if not you wanna let him and see if he takes his aggression out on the quarry and not other dogs. there was a guy from by me whos dog was the same. once he'd been out for his first time on quarry that bit back he done the job needed and lost all his aggression to other dogs. and still doing the job asked of him after 3 good seasons.

I dont now the reason behind it mate, but my young lurcher has started doing exactly the same thing over the last month or so. It's not like he wasnt socialised enough when he was yound because he was out on the shoot with me all the time meeting other dogs. Joe

What age would he be JOE? Mine was well socialised too and there was never any bother? :hmm:

some time male dogs when they cum out of puppy hood act like this cos there are maturing in to a dog they soon grow out of it just acting like teenagers they can be like young thugs but this is how a dogs acts in a wild pack finding there pecking order this how a dog finds his status in a pack if he becomes leader he get to breed this is the time when you need to let them no your leader and keep training them and not letting them off with it or you will end up with a dog that is a right hand full sure other guys and lasses on here have had same as you and can help you

One of my terriers is a f*****g nightmare with other dog's.He was fine untill his first ratting trip, another terrier kicked off and mine just waded in and welded himself to it's face.I thought it was just a dog to dog thing but although he'll let my young Patt bitch torment the life out of him,i can see he has some bad intentions for my beddyxwhippet bitch even though she's female and only 13 week's old :hmm: so i have to keep him locked up when she's out.A few week's ago he fired into my mate's pointer bitch without warning and believe me he would have done some serious damage had i not intervened. He's seen plenty of work and i've been walking him and the other's for mile's everyday since late feb. He's a cracking dog and good as gold with kids and people, but i can't let him out without a muzzle when there's other dog's.

my JRT (now retired) has been a menace around other dogs all her life, she never bothers to go meet new dogs, doesnt mind being in any dogs company but if a dog so much as growls at her she kicks off and latches herself to their face or neck and :no: IMO shes a fiesty dog. same as my boxer. loves fighting, fortunately gets a thrashing most times though.

Its his age. I think alot of males seem to fully mature at this age..18mth-2yrs. My dog did exactly the same, had never been a bit of bother prior, he would run at dogs, not even check if it was a dog/bitch, young/old would just go in fast and hard. He also started to attack his bitches when on the lead if he could'nt get to a dog walking past. Carefull handling, not putting him in a situation he could do it anymore and the fact he has matured more has calmed him slightly. But he is still and will always be a very dominant dog, i think its just the way some dogs are?

WILBA1985 he had a few the back end of the season at about 15 months but hasnt seen any red fellas since because of the time of year so it could be from not being worked, MOLLY your probably right about the maturing thing ;)

I can take him out lamping with 2/3 other male dogs. Fine and focused. As soon as its the end of the night and we are sorting stuff out, up comes the tail and the growling starts

The last dog he got was last year a big 29" lurcher dog, he chased it even though it was acting submissive and ragged it to the ground by the back of its neck...its the 2nd time he's had the same dog (not out working i'd like to add)

He is 4yrs now and recently a dog appeared out of the blue on a walk, i was able to call him away and he didnt appear interested? Hopefully turning the tide.

Had a slight issue with this fella a while back, turned on the other dogs after a kill, he was guarding it, just be carefull if you have other dogs with you after a kill. Watch him closely because when they go it`s a fecking nightmare, any other time he`s great around other dogs but when working i run him single handed i just can`t take the risk,
