Phantom 631
Depends on the length, how it was cut, was it re-crowned? And most important Is it still Legal for a rifle? There are specific lengths that qualify its legality Cant remember the exact specs though. Tony Quote Link to post
kevk 12
Am not sure but I do know he took it to gun smith and got good sevice on it and new spring so guess it. Legal. It is crowned Quote Link to post
hyperion 122
its some thing like 26 inches I THINK been a while since I had to think about stuff like that on the other hand cutting the barrel down basically screws every thing up, if you dont recrown the barrel you wont be able to hit a barn door at 20 feet, a shorter barrel causes a drop in velocity and increases vibration (if your talking springers) a shorted barrel means less of a cushion of air infront of the piston and can lead to some very nasty stuff happening to the rifle at worst causing the cylinder to split and possibly the whole thing comming apart which is very not good ignore all that then lol Edited April 4, 2012 by hyperion Quote Link to post
kevk 12
Surly its not 28 inc form stock to end barrel is it Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
60 cm (24 inch) I believe, but would need to verify that Tony Quote Link to post
kevk 12
full lenght of gun ? Quote Link to post
hyperion 122
it relates to the total length of the weapon but I dont think there is a minimum barrel length rather the minimum lenght applies to whether or not the weapon has a removable stock, such as a take down rifle, if its under a certain length it is classed a pistol, air pistols are limited to 6ft/lbs, so if you have a rifle that can still be fired with the stock removed or if its under a certain length you have an over the legal limit pistol 1 Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Yes, thats it Hyperion is on the money there I wanted to bring a Bullpup hunter into the UK nut it was only about 20 inches in length nose to tail, even though the barrel was about 18 inches, it would have been classed as an FAC Pistol and thus illegal!
