mark a l 27
so in the 22 class he could go and buy either a 22 LR or a 22 WMR even thought he applied for just a 22 LR ? Quote Link to post

mark a l 27
hi ratsmasher .. he does not want a 22WMR ... he was wondering why they have put down 22RF instead of 22LR Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Its an anomaly on my FAC as well and I've seen on dozens more. No idea why the licensing departments don't amend it to the correct calibres, they're obviously not that interested in the difference between a .22LR, Long, Short or CB. If you're mate's intention is to buy a .22LR just buy one and then send off the notification with the correct calibre, i.e. .22LR Quote Link to post
TWOTWOTHREE 152
Hi I asked the feo dept that same question when I first applied for a 22lr ,the ticket came back saying 22rf I assumed I could get any of the rim fires lr or wmr,not the case he said it had to state wmr if that's what I wanted to buy,I tried to tell him that if this is the case why didn't you put 22lr as I requested I didn't put 22rf on my application, his answer was it sometimes happens that way, basically he meant piss off cos you have asked me a question I can answer lol,i got my mate to ring south Yorkshire and ther said if it don't state wmr then no,basically the same as derbyshire told me,ring your local dept and let us no I'm curious of their reply it's very misleading Atb 223 Edited March 14, 2012 by TWOTWOTHREE Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
223, another case of the licencing department making it up as they go along. They put .22 rimfire (or .22rf) then there is no possible way they can argue that .22WMR isn't included in that. If their intent is to only allow you .22LR, then that is what they should state. The HO guidance is very clear on this. As an aside, the aplication form asks only for calibre, not chambering, so there is no need to state which .22 you require on the form (though they will almost certainly phone and ask whether you want a .22 rimire/LR, or a centrefire, and they should then ask which centrefire or rimfire you want, to follow the HO guidelines. If they conditioned your certificate for .22CF then there is a whole range of chamberings you could purchase, from the little .22 hornet up to the mighty .223WSSM. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I may just pay money to see the look on the person in the licensing department's face if they granted me just ".22CF" and I sent this round back on my acquisition form... It is a .22 Centrefire after all. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Eargesplitten_Loudenboomer Quote Link to post
TWOTWOTHREE 152
Too right matt they are their own worst enemies No wonder people get confused and criticise them, Ss the look on the face would be priceless sending that in Lol Atb Quote Link to post

Simonrees 45
I asked this very question when I received my FAC back it just says.22 on mine, So I assumed maybe I could choose any .22 I wanted. Wrong!! I spoke to the Firearms dept and they clarified it for me, basically I can only have a .22lr if I want a WMR then they class that as a seperate "caliber" and I would need to apply for a variation.
