Patterdale terrier and ferrets

Hi all wondering if anyone can help ? I have a pat/Lakeland terrier and he's a great dog but he doesn't get on with my ferrets ! He used to try and attack them in the box and in the cage. I've managed to get him to stop this and I can hold the ferret and he won't touch it. He doesn't attack them as such in my presence but he will lunge at them and mouth them. I would really like to take him ferreting but I just can't trust him. Any help would be gladly appreciated.

My Pat/Lakeland gets on great with my ferrets he will bark at the cage till they come out then he just plays with them, if he gets too rough they let him know with a nip, how old is your terrier dude ?

A canicom shock collar cured my pat of his sheep chasing antics,might not be to everyone's taste and not even legal if you live in Wales but He doesn't even have to wear it now and will happily goe nose to nose with them.

hi, we have 2 patts and they wont go near them at all. dont even glance at them. just let them know you dont want em to do it.

He's coming up for 2 years in the summer.

Thought about using a shock collar but they are a but expensive like.

He really good at hunting up and is great on rabbits, starting on foxes now too and following up deer. He just barks at them now but I think I might get a muzzle so s he can run up to them and if he's too ruff the ferret can just give him a nip
