Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
Well Duncan came down to sunny oxfordshire to have a splat at the woodies . A early start quick brew and we was away back to field I had shot 87 last week only a field away from my house. The birds where pouring in on our arrival we setup in the same spot as we did last week with two hide 20 yards apart. A nice horseshoe shape pattern headed by the whirly and the flapper on the nearest back end of the pattern. While we setup birds where attemping to enter the field . We dropped back into the hides and within mins Duncan one shot one kill ratio was a good start then the next bunch and bang that 100% kill ratio went out the window for both of us. The next two hrs product alot of birds at distance and only the odd one dropping to the deeks. We pack up with a messly 7 in the bag . We headed off to see how the old man was getting on a couple of clicks away. He had ten . We had a scout round and found a lovely drilling of a wholecrop mix peas beans etc with 500 or so lifting off but looks like it was only drilled the day before. But we had a crack anyway once again two hides set apart. Just the flapper and Duncan plastic on sticks. The flow was steady and some good shots by Duncan including a fine left and right . Along with a couple over the brook which Duncan had to jump being gundogless . A wet foot did not dampen his fun and we packed up with 26 plus a rook along with 7 in the morning total 33 plus dads 21 made a total of 53 between us the day. No records but I enjoyed Duncan company and his cosy hide seat . Being a tough country lad seats are not for me Well it was great day in great company ATB Cookie Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
Nice right up simon, and I can't think of a better time had whilst decoying, That 'digweed' rook that we thought was a crow certainly came down with a thump! Hopefully my protege dog will be up for some retrieving work soon- she'd have cleared that stream without a problem lol! If memory serves, you almost had a swim yourself Thanks very much for the invitation and being such a generous host. Cheers Duncan. Ps what's wrong with shooting from a comfy sofa? A gentleman shooter like me likes his refinements lol. Quote Link to post
