Good day out.

Had some of the beaters over yesterday for a day with the ferrets, haven't got a massive problem with them just trying to clear a few from places that a hard to get with the lamp. We set out at nine and headed for a drainage ditch that is 300 yards long and holes from one end to the other. The plan was to work it in stages pushing the rabbits along the hedge, netted up the first 50 yards and bolted 4 in minutes moved the nets up and bolted another 1. Plan was working well untill we netted the next section dropped the ferrets in and within seconds there were young ones flying about the holes, ferrets were having far to much fun killing them than working properly so we boxed them up and headed to the far side of the farm. Drove in the field and three ran into a 6 holer netted up and they bolted them all 2 into nets and one shot. Moved along to the next bury ferrets had been down a good while when a stoat bolted but didn't present a safe shot. After that were only had 3 more for the rest of the day all had to be dug out only 3 feet deep so not so bad.

All in all a good day had, not a record breaking bag but good weather and good company.
