Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
Well with the end of the shooting season and the keepers not spinning the feed ridfes the woodies have moved out onto OSR fields. With good numbers showing sometime 3/5 thousand birds being seen in oxfordshire. Well this spot is a favorite of mine and I have shoot many thousands over the last 20 years from the same spot . With some nice little ash trees for lofters and good background for the hide. I had a friend with me who does not get out enough as he is a keen deer stalker and he a fair shot which great . I have recced the field over the last week with a strong flow from first light till 11 then they return 3 PM till last light. So we arrived just after first light with that much welcomed view of birds tracking to the field in good numbers. Whizz across the field and with the mate who is well drilled in hide setting and deeeks we had it all fit in 10 mins park the the quad up in a spot that the birds like to pitch into . Staright back into the hide and they started to come in text book pulling to our favoured M shape pattern with two hides covering each horseshoe with a whirly on one and the flapper on the other. The shooting was steady and a good number of birds falling and by 12 we accouted for 60 or so birds . The mate had to push off at 12 girlfriends birthday so I pop home for a spot of lunch while the old chap had a good two hour stinted accounting for another 27 birds. So we finnished 87 a great day in great company and roll on spring drilling. ATB Cookie Quote Link to post

Pup should be ready for a few runs on easy bunnies before the years out so can't complain really. Haven't shot any clays since shortly after we last did that clayflush. Golden day that was You still got that bargain Fireblade? Quote Link to post
