richie 1
has any other members had a problem with the mk3 collars ? i found that every time i used mine they had a habit of coming off the ferrets due to the collars been too thick and stiff. i made a call to deben and explained what the problem was and got told by the woman on the phone that i was the first person to complain.. i find this hard to believe. i was told to tighten them up more ! yeah i could do this if i wanted my ferrets to turn blue and have their eyes popping out their head. what i done was ordered the original mk1 leather collars and stripped a small amount of plastic from the collars using a sharp craft knife so the leather collar could fit through and since ive done this the problem hasnt happened again. i attached a few pictures incase a few others have come across the same problem. richie Edited April 28, 2007 by richie Quote Link to post

Guest The Big Fish
They rekoned that you were the first to mention this problem???? I dont think so Ive been whinging all season about this problem Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
I agree when it come to putting the collar on so tight the bloody ferret goes blue, perhaps they should look at the collar again,if enough peeps have had this problem & complain they will have to re design it. Do you think it would work if the sencor thing was attached to a hartness rather than a collar, this may be better for smaller ferrets, just a thought Quote Link to post

Guest The Big Fish
Contact adhesive, wonderfull stuff Seriously, i havent, but i think that the strap needs to be narrower, same size as the originals would do the trick. Deben will need to look at this issue fairly quickly, unless of course it is a ploy to sell more collars due to them falling off. Quote Link to post
richie 1
big fish.. ive got a couple of straps sitting here so if you want me to send you a couple just give me the word & ill stick a few in the post. richie Edited April 28, 2007 by richie Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
Ive also done the same with my collars, exept I used the leather Herret harnesses that you can buy at most pet shops or field sports shop then just use the 2 collars that come with them They work ALOT better :thumbs-up: Quote Link to post
richie 1
what you attach the collars to the harness or do you attached the transmitters to the harness ? Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
I attatch the transmitters to the harness. But I dont use the actuall harness. The harnesses are made up of 2 collars held together by another piece of leather. All you have to do is pull the collars out and use them like that. Mine look exactly like yours exept black. Edit> When I said they work alot better. I was refering to the standard Deben collars, not the collars you have Edited April 28, 2007 by Hob&Jill Quote Link to post
PETEWINN 5
It seems to depend on the shape of the ferret whether the new collars fall off or not. If the ferret has a cone shaped head you have no chance with them, all you can do is as mentioned above and change the strap. The person to speak to at Deben is Dave Owen who is the design engineer for the Mark 3 stuff. He does listen and take note. Quote Link to post
