Which HMR?

Recommended Posts

I am currently looking to aquire a .17 HMR and had my mind set on a CZ455, really liked this gun, was very comfy to use and very accurate, I have never owned or used a thumbhole stock until I tried this gun and was really impressed, also the £399 price tag is good for a rifle like this.

Then just to throw a spanner in the works I've been offered a Savage 93R17, not had chance to look at one in the flesh yet, but I have read quite a few reviews online and they all seem quite possitive, it looks very similar to the CZ, and the price is £499 so its another hundred quid which I don't mind paying if the rifle warrants it,

Has anybody on here got experience with either rifle, and which rifle do you think I should buy?

I have the cz452, and have shot it against the sako, savage and anshutz.

The worst grouping was with the savage, but that may have been a bad example rifle. They all have the potential for being accurate if cleaned properly, but you cant beat the cz for value for money accuracy. It is as good as, if not better than all of the other 3. imo.

Had hold of the savage today, it was also the thumbhole model but appart from the trigger it was no better than the CZ, so the next thing is how much and what trigger to replace the one on the CZ?

Rimfire magic sell a cracking kit for not much more than about 14 quid.
