Terrier refuses to work cover

Recommended Posts

He may just be very smart, but if he was mine i,d either leave him at home when i went out for a month before trying him again, or i,d take him with me but keep him on a lead while the other dogs are working the cover for a few weeks, he might realise what he,s missing out on, hope you get him sorted, ATB.

Are you working the terrier with a lurcher that stand's and wait's on the outside of cover waiting for the flush..i once had a terrier that done similar to your's as im sure it thought it was a lurcher when out alone with the running dog's..when they was 2 or more terrier's bushing about it would start bushing again..but on it's own it would follow the lurcher's because it knew it had more chance of getting on a kill..

Cheers for all the replys and advice I work him with my whippet x Lakeland and he loves pushing through the cover so I thin your right he's letting the other dog do all the work and he's getting the good stuff least he would b if he could catch it , I'll try keeping him on a lead for a few weeks see what he's like after that
