Heff 0
hi just joined up, been thinking about lamping my staff bitch, was wondering if any of you out there are doing the same and wat kinda results your getting? i have a few staffs but my youngest bitch is leggy with a slim build, shes the fastest staff i've ever saw she even runs diffrent. she marcs buirds constantly well i think thats wat shes doing, either hangs her front paw with ears pricked and tail strait, or leans into her front end. soon as they move shes off. she gave chase to a fox at the bins from the back of the house and she would have 110% had it if i never called her off. shes fine with sheep, cows and dogs. My mrs uncle has a few lutchures and ferrets and also has permision for some land, i was thinking about asking him if i could take my bitch along on a run. sorry about the pic, it was a good pic but had trouble resizeing. always wary of taking a staff or any type of bull out lamping because if you get caught you know what the police will be saying. What would the police be saying? Howard Quote Link to post

What would the police be saying? Howard How did it go with your staffy gameover? I have had great fun with my staffy on our walks, he is quite quick and I think with the deck stacked in his direction a tiny bit he would get a few, but like yourself I think it's just great fun and he loves running. I really want to get him ratting but when I get a new lamp battery I will have a bash at night too. Quote Link to post

shaaark 11,412
cheers lads, bandog my bitch is of similar stature as yours, maybe an inch in it from looking at the pic, to the haters, i dont think for one minute my bitch can run as fast as a wippet, wat im saying is that the motion in the running is the same/similar, front and back legs passing each other, a staff doesnt useually run like this as there legs are to short and bodys to stocky. i dont expect to be amazed just wanted to hear from people with experiance. like bandog or anyone else that would like to chip in some knawlage Do you shoot with an air rifle?I would start her off retrieving shot first then build up to the lamp but to start with pick her up and put the lamp on her head as regardless how leggy you think she is she's still short so she can look Down the beam,as I said pm blackstaff he's your man. Where you from? i've got a couple of old 2.2s with big ass springs in them, there old though, from when i was a younger lad, dont have a licence for them, they would prob need a good clean, my mrs brother has a ferrat he keeps in the garden its just a pet, never done any work in its life, would it be possible to use the ferret to get them out the holes dureing light houres? it looks like i'm going to be doing a bit of reaserch on this, get clued up a bit. was just wanting to take the bitch out and see wat happens, but i think now if i dont get enything i've set my self up for a let down lol spent a good bit of last night looking at dogs lol i'm in the west of scotland mate, going to take her in the cemetery next to were i stay sunday mornig at thecrack of dawn let her see smell and chase them, this will set her u better for going out in the fields at night. Great that you're taking the dog out for a go, but I'd avoid the cemetery, all those headstones etc and a sprinting dog is an accident that will happen sooner rather than later a t b Quote Link to post
