J.DOG 1,355
Right my lurcher who is 16 months never had dew claws removed , he chews them all the time and today he had chewed most of the nail off, I don't know what to it's not bleeding I don't think it's hurting him but I'm worried he will cause some serious damage to himself . Any advise and I know the dew claws should have been removed as pup cheers lads JD

MissRhianL 70
hey, dont worry too much at the moment, my bull x always seems to cause himself injury due to his due claws. It is a bit of a nightmare sometimes as he rips it off or caught it on something. Ideally i think they should be taken off when they are younger. If its not bleeding or causing him any pain leave him to it. My bull x has chewed his nail off many of times. If you really are concerned and its putting your dog out of work then you could actually get the dew claws removed but for the time being see how he is and go from there. All the best Rhian
Malt 379
If they're an issue, get 'em off at the vet. My dog smashed his up half way through his first decent season so the resulting op knocked him back a good bit. Haven't had any problems since..

J.DOG 1,355
Any decent vet wouldn't refuse it being removed I know a really good vet that would probably do it so if it becomes a big problem I'll take him down. Cheers JD
