ferret question please

do ferrets get fleas ?????? could somone plzzzzz tell me ? if so how do u get rid ?? i dont mean ticks .

do ferrets get fleas ?????? could somone plzzzzz tell me ? if so how do u get rid ?? i dont mean ticks .

 

oh boy do they if like me you have cats coming into your garden and looking into the ferret run though the wire there is a good chance you will have fleas on your ferrets. if you continue to feed fur and feather all year round you stand an even bigger chance of passing on fleas, skin any rabbits first as they are riddled with them at this time of the year.

 

everyone uses differant ways to rid ferrets of fleas, if like me you dont like chemicals try tea tree shampoo for dogs, a bucket of warm water, a quick dunk upto the neck, then a dunk in clean water and bobs you uncle. as it is herbal based you can do it as often as needed and the ferrets love the feel of being nice and clean aswell.

 

Ps. before im accussed of being a mamby pamby pet ferret owner, think again as i work mine and feel there is nothing wrong in keeping them clean :kiss:

i always use acclaim which is meant to be used to kill fleas, ticks and mites etc... in the house! it says on there do not use on animals, but i was advised to use it a few years ago and tryed it and it works a treat!!!just spray a piece on back of the neck about size of 50p piece -fleas and ticks will be gone by next day
