19powell90 89
don't sand the checkering, go from a fine down all the way to 1500/2000 wet/dry sandpaper, use a block if you want to keep straight edges. personally i used just my hand as i slightly reshaped the stock to give more curvature what stock is it? scott Quote Link to post

19powell90 89
Well start by stripping the stock with nitromors. Then do what you want with the forend and then its a case of making it as smooth as possible even after being wet. So keep sanding with a say 180 sand paper then wet the wood and leave to dry then sand again and so on and move up to 320 grit then onto 600 wet & dry then 1500 wet & dry then finally 0000 or fine steel wool. Process is long and time consuming but worth it in the end. Once sanded then you need to go through the methods of the chosen finish Scott Quote Link to post

I know its a lot of effort if its a tatting gun but its in a state at the moment. I presume its paint and clear sealant and job done?. Regards Gareth Quote Link to post
