tail docking

Am wondering if anybody noes of anyone who does tail docking for the older dogs i have a terrier that keeps cutting her tail up and would like to get it docked she is 16 months old.

Thats something I'd leave as it is.Tail docking is best done as a wee pup.The potential to harm far outweighs the benefit.

If the dog cuts it's tail when working then take the dog to the vets and see what they say about it.

If its genuinely splitting and it wont heal then a vet will take it off (had my lurcher done) but if its cosmetic reasons youve no chance.

got to agree dont bother mate..thats the reason there docked in the first few days because they get cut and bitten, iv herd of dogs that have been docked later and its a mine field.

i have a terrier that could do with it . think it has been done but not enough. heard of people putting sheep bands on dogs tails like they put on lambs but dont know of results ?

yes lamb rings they work i use them but only on a pup before there eyes are even open would not dream of docking anything other than a pup

Anyone that cant dock a pup in the traditional manner should not be doing it .Those rings you refer to dont close enough for a very young pup .

i can tell u personally they do work i have used them but twine will do the job
