Day out last Friday

Recommended Posts

Hello all well I was out of ferret food Thursday so I could either waste money on dry or take a risk and put the money in the fuel tank and go catch some rabbits he says , so you can guess wha l did. ?? So I gave a localish paddock a txt to say I would be over on Friday , she told me the roof had blown off the shelter taking the gate and half a fence with it so there were no horses in the fields if I wanted to take the dog , so anyway I had a non money bet with a mate that old psyco would be almost there by Xmas and half decent end of season so his day had come : ( , I set off a little later than planned old scitso was reluctant to get in the van he hates it I think as we got him at 8 months old he asosiates car with new home lol . He spent his first year wanting to go home you could tell , anyhoow we arrived at the empty paddocks mr archers had chucked up in the footwell on route nice, I wandered down and set up the longnets and collard the ferrets at the first burry then fetched mr archers It didn't look overly occupied but I wanted to give him a blast ferrets in dog on standby a few whimpers from the mut grrrr then a bolt go on archers off he shot I think he'd forgotten what one looked like he nailed it if a liitle clumsily in the long net , I put him back on his lead while I delt with the rabbit, reason being I wasn't totally sure of him with the ferrets weve been doing lots of work but he aint a pup , anyhow he Slipped the lead and bounded off towards the ferrets I thought oh well make or break , a quick sniff and a playful bound and he let them be huh Eulrika , I let him wander then, I was chuffed a huge turning point , no more rabbits at home, well I had ferreted that one three times before, we moved to the banks of doom I netted best I could and knew we were going to loose more than we caught : ( but it had now turned into training day for the unwanted second hand mutt bless ,I released the hound once the stinkers were In it was great we'll seeing him without the lead, working in unison with the ferrets no he was tearing up and down the length of the long net : ( while rabbits were geting away . See all his catches had been in the net till now , he soon twiged and after seeing a bunny slip threw the fence the penny dropped , he was waiting by the holes we missed a few with the fence and the fact the other side of tge bank was unmanned or any nets there , we managed one in the long net so two in the bag . But hay the dog was off the lead It felt good no amazing I was proud reall proud , we tryed a small bit but no one home should of let the dog Mark it , I then remembered we were there for ferret food and after realising we'd Lost at least 7 on the bank of doom I though we'd try our luck on bank two or one depending which you do first lol , I pursed a small section I knew was separate . Found someone else's purse net in the process grrr : ( , well hay ho that's ferreting barstewards , popped the Jill in a rumble then mr archers had a prize pinned for us he was happy so was I , the rest of the bank looked an ominous task as far as netting it up went so thought sod it let's go all out sport for the dog no nets and one Jill it was great his schooling had just been upped he missed a few and was not happy but he didn't loose heart and was really starting to get this game and was working the holes a treat,I just let him be then a bolt right by him he was on this one and nearlly made his first catch without the aid of a net , bad luck mr archers I thought but no he hoisted it out of the hole it had made to, he was so excited he more or less droped it oh know I thought but he was not letting his first solo prize slip from his grasp oh know it lept from his mouth and threw the fence as quick as a flash his snout was threw the fence and clamped back on his prize he had it , i was really pleased for him and he seemed over the moon . So over the moon I gad a little trouble prizing it from him lol, oh well , A little dig to get the Jill and another rabbit and I called an end to the day and cleared up then back to the van. I realised I had left something so let the dog have a run round the field he was bounding around looked so chuffed with him self really a great end to an enjoyable day and no more lead whilst working the burrys hooray , he's there took a little longer than with a new pup or a normal dog lol but old psycos there ,
