springer resting

Recommended Posts

just a quick question if i rest my hand on a solid rest but only rest the spring rifle on my hand allowing it to recoil is this ok for shooting a springer? or must it be totally free hand? its just i mainly shoot lying down and like to have the rifle nearly in position to take the shot as the rabbit appears. thanks in advance

Hi Fry

I just got back from a zero session myself with the TX200HC .177,shooting prone ,ready for the SHS round 4 Sunday.and in these winds it was still grouping good, although 0.5 mil /1.00mil to the left.but still with in 15mm.

how I achieved this is double over your gun slip, rest your forearm on the bag and place the fore stock in the palm of your hand, and grip gently but firm! get your body in line with the rifle, until it sits comfortable in your shoulder.and remember to squeeze almost caress the trigger. your hold and consistency is the key!

shooting from a solid base/ bench resting, let your forearm do most of the work.in supporting the rifle

so if your out in the field shooting quarry use your slip/rucksack as support

this how I get good groups, wind depending!

regards

Davy
