The Gillie suit goes over your normal all-weather gear. It's purely for camoflage (just to break up your outline and blend you in with the surrounding terrain). Their really designed to be used in a stationary postion, if you try to stalk in one you'll more than likely get snagged up in everything as you move!

Hi mate. I done a 6 week sniper course at work.....

We made a ghillie suit out of an old camouflage jacket and trousers. We got sandbags and cut them into strips of various lengths and stapled them on to the the jacket all over.we used black staples we were given and would reccomend stitching it. We had little time. The more the better. Lots of strips over the hood area and stitched some

Scrim netting into the hood so it could be put over your face and some of the rifle.

We wore it everyday, in the resteraunt, on sports and [bANNED TEXT] we went the toilet! The only time we didn't have it on was in bed.

The ideas is that the more it get used, it weathers and the cut bits of sandbag go rough and scruffy which is how you want them. Sandbags are a good material for it. Ours wasn't waterproof but we wasn't allowed goretex as it makes too much

Noise.

When we completed out training we got given our own ghillie suit and gave our homemade ones to the new comers.

The ghillie suit we got was a mesh jacket that just covers your body and down the back of your legs to your feet. We done th same with sandbags only we stitched it and VERY LIGHTLY sprayed it with black/ brown/ green. only to help it weather and with colour.

I have used these many times and they're effective. Very cheap to make and lightweight.

Bit of sniper tape on the rifle, butt, stock and scope and put cam cream on it.

Hope this helps.
