Guest vin
Started early before it was light we were on the fields. checked out a couple of cheeky local spots that can only be done on a sunday. We found some good sets for future reference.. dropped ferret in a bramble hedgerow with a few good holes and loads of runs.Dogs were marking well.it wasnt long before we had 2 bolts straight down under the brambles and out over the next hedge missed by my dog and Deans dog Lola. after a couple more minutes a good bolt into net followed by 2 behind it.Dean caught the netted one and one of the others on the way out but dropped the bugger as he was passing it to me..that ran off down the hedge much to our amusement..dean also drooped the netted one in the confusuion and it managed to roll the net and make a run for it,but Lola quickly scooped it up so all was not lost. Then as we were laughing about the comedy sketch another hit the nets on my side.. so we moved onto another hedge and had a mooch about..we managed to bolt another one out of a little set which Lola managed to pick up in fine style in about 10 yards from the hole.. we then had to dog out the ferret which was only a couple of feet down..as we broke through the rabbit bolted and ran through both mine and deans hands we both missed it ! and so did the dogs as it crawled down the barmble hedges.. we decided enough of the brambles and onto an easier spot of permission down the road..walked down a lane and found a lovely 5 hole set on a hedge with not much cover for a change..as sson as ferts went in 1 bolted into nets..then another slipped us through a missed bolt hole but he didnt have anywhere to go and came back towards me and backnetted itself..beauty ! we then mooched onto anther little hedge and bounced another out of a nice little set..we moved onward and met this bloke walking his dog he says"theres loads over there mate" pointing to another hedge next to rd...he was right there was loads,,,but really hard to get at,really thick brambles and runs all through that looked years old...so we couldnt resist..we neeted the biggest and easiest and sent a ferret in...it was in ages and a couple bolted and ran back down further down the set..next thing we ends up digging for ages to Deans ferret we were about 4 foot down and still no sign..so I put one of my jills in from another hole and after few minutes she was bouncing back and forth between dean ferret and the block end that the bunny was in..Thank F..k it did the trick and managed to move deans ferret off the bunny and out of set...she was covered in clarat etc etc and had been having fun...but we were not risking anymore digging today so called it a day just as the last bit of sunlight was disappearing,we were a bit pissed off we didnt get the bunny,,but very glad we got his ferret out. We eneded the day on a very respectable 6 in the bag and at least 10 missed for another day when the cover has really died off. shame we cant get the same amout in the same place when Lamping..LOL. deanflute 550
Top day out. It's good when you can laugh about the missed ones and not take it too serious! All good fun (apart from digging!) Quote Link to post
