only have hybrids and pure breeds. from chicks chick crumb. then onto growers pellets. then layers pellets. give them a scratch feed in the afternoon mixed corn. use mixed grit etc .also have a plot any left overs from that. add acv in their water. add cod liver oil in their feed in winter. to yellow up the yolks small amount of split maize with adult birds. allow acess to grass. before breeding feed on breeders pellets. plenty clean fresh water. atb.

laying daily is not a detriment in any way ... if they aren't healthy enough, underfed, stressed, lack of light etc they won't lay.

the only sign of quality of egg declining in my experience with hybrids has been age.

i feed similar to darbo, minus the cod liver oil,and as my niece works in a bakery,during the cold winter mths i put wholemeal bread,pasties and pies in a bucket and mix with hot boiled veg,water an all,an i give it em warm,theyre like a pack of wild dogs

I feed wheat mixed with split maize and peas and growers pellets mixed too year round, then layers for the breeding periods (not for cocks as the calcium used is Limestone flour and too much is bad for males), then for extras some pigeon mixed corn, I throw in some minced whole rabbit (just a little) or a skinned leg ties on a string to make them jump and work for it. I also like to feed oats, oats are a traditional food for horses and for gamecocks. But If you give a lot of oats to your cocks, be carefull..... They will be more nervous and more aggressive. Some will even become manfighters.

I also will throw some alfifa pellets (ones with no salt), into the mix for greens during the winter months. If I have everything figured right, about 16 to 18% protein.

i feed prety much the same with red brand sunflowers hearts i also soak corn and oats for a couple of weeks for the young taiwains they go mad when you feed em it they love it .the growers i feed is 28 % protine from the game keeper
