p3d 879
With Sean Frain's books, the man never seemed to improve his writing style. I also thought I had read the same paragraphs over and over again, so I checked back through the book and found he WAS repeating himself. I finished his Patterdale book and thought it was a disappointment. A book on the Black dogs should be a great read. but IMO Sean Frain lost a great chance to put the record straight. In his books did anyone else get sick of the endless photos of his two terriers running loose with no collars on. If you did a search on this site (or similar sites) you could pull together better and more interesting information on the history of these dogs. Often wondered if Sean Frain ever felt the need to update this book. Its one thing to make a mistake with the first book but why not try to rectify it. I believe he still writes for the C.W. so would it not be possible to update the book. It would go some way repair his reputation.

Basically, true or not, Plummer could tell a good tale, Frain hasn't got that skill IMO Cheers, D.
