undisputed 1,664
We've all had one or been one at one time or another. Used and abused Pish ripped out of you but in the best possible way, but at least you were getting out and picking up useful tips or giving them as the case maybe. It always meant something to me as a kid and made me feel kind of important in a way carrying ferret boxes or piles of rabbits....being part of something if you get my drift. one of my most abiding memories is me and my mate coming out the local Glen with 25 rabbits on a pole on our shoulders and walking up the road and nobody batting an eye. Can you imagine what would happen these days if you did that. Being a bagman was a kind of [bANNED TEXT] of passage, going from being a gopher to moving up the pecking order a bit when you got to handle the ferrets and put the nets down...and the replacement bagman getting all the shity jobs that you used to do. I often think the older guys we went out with did it on purpose to see if you could make the grade and be really useful instead of being the spare man. Personally I think every one should have a go at being the bagman from time to time, I still do occasionally and still enjoy it.....but not to much or to often now.....has anyone else came up this way and lived to tell the tale let's hear your story. NEWKID 29,241
I was a very happy bag man from a young age ( although I couldn't carry much), I was absolutely guted this year when Dave, who I walked hundreds of miles with from around 6 years old, passed away. I would happily be a bagmn tomorrow for another walk out.
