jasper65 6 Posted November 17, 2011 Report Share Posted November 17, 2011 Just been reading the instructions for this mains Energiser and it advices to use at least two or more < 2 to 3 Meter > earth stakes, sounds alot to me expecially 3 meter long stakes? if anyone else uses a mains Energiser can you give me some advice please on your set up? on my 12v unit I just knocked in a stake about 2 foot and it was fine, why does the mains unit need such long stakes? I had a belt off the 12v unit while set on the highest setting and boy did that give me a crack. it seems strange on this Galagher mains unit why it says 2 or more earth stakes 2/3 meters long , I have never seen them that long............ I've always used a single pin driven down around a foot and that's a fence taken off the mains. And you don't want to touch that.... Lol Nice one Lab . willum 89 Posted November 17, 2011 Report Share Posted November 17, 2011 if you want to get a really good belt the more earth stakes you have or more in the ground = better earth stronger shock dig a pit and place a load of salt in the ground and keep stakes moist this helps generate a better ground for the earth but you dont really need to be that long we used to use stakes about a meter or so long and hammer down till about 6 - 8 inch out the ground works a treat had several belts of them and dropped me to my knees a few times Quote Link to post Share on other sites
SNAP SHOT 194 Posted November 17, 2011 Report Share Posted November 17, 2011 Its means 2 or 3 1mtr long earth rods, and connect them from the first grounded one, then another meter and drive the second one in, and another one and drive the third in... then connect them with two seperate bits of earth wire one form first to second, and one from second to third rod, this increases the odds of earth and thus a good power output... Jasp I'm Very sure it is a misprint mate.... As part of the business i'm in deals with these on an everyday basis, And all energisers, which are mains operated use the same principal, Also common sense would say how the hell you gonna drive it at almost 10ft high....!!!!! Some of the products we deal with are able to power lines to extreme distances and all are grounded in this way, the only thing you need to watch for is that the ground you drive the rods into is damp even in the warmest days of summer, This makes sure that the rods are well grounded, Snap.
