A day on the 'Mono'

Recommended Posts

Excellent result, one I must aspire to!But hold.....What are those strange marks around their middles?

Aaghh yes, i see what you mean, hadnt noticed. A couple of the fish were so eager to take the fly they wrapped the mono.....i mean leader around themselves....such is the quality of the fly :victory:

I figured that out myself,I imagined casting at dusk,a take,a strike and an epic crepuscular battle twixt man and fish with only one victor.

Poetry Mackem, pure poetry.....twas as if i was back there......a battle i am sure you have had many an evening.

I would like to have such a escapade Bell, surely I would,I need vicarious experiences from one such as yourself,I know you might be working on the premise that a picture speaks a thousand words, and thats fine, but next time could we have more words?I did a Myers Briggs MBTI test once and came out as an intuitive communicator, words Bell, best things ever written, you need to set the scene and lead us in..........

Have you anymore fly-fishing exploits in the pipeline Bell?I am going myself this weekend, hope my trip is equally as fruitful as yours.

Sorry old thing, what with the shooting season kicking in i shall not be venturing North until January, but rest assured the old 'Mono' will feel the wind beneath her as she is hurled to the horizan accross a Scottish storm beach................... :D

I'm more into coarse fishing myself. Pike fishing mostly and eel fishing in the summer months. I do remember when I was younger going down to stay in the army camp with my mate and his family for a few days in the holiday period. There were great big lumps off mullets in shoals of maybe 6 or 7. We could we could see them from the top of the bridge looking down into the sea water. So we tried for two days solid to catch at least one of them, to no avail. We got plenty of takes but for some reason we couldn't hook them??? I do recall an old man passing by and asking us which fish we were targeting and we informed him it was the mullet. He told us we were wasting our time as the mullet were SOFT MOUTHED and the hooks would only pull threw !!! I never ever thought about it again until reading this post. Was he true in what he told us, or was he only pulling our legs, so to speak ????? If true, why would this be ??? I wouldn't know personnally as Ive done very little sea fishing. Atb....MUDD
