Squirrel_Basher 17,102
Just in from a place where i do the control around some chicken sheds and bumped into the farmer who said hed just seen a fox in his rearing field where he starts the day old chicks under lamps in big polly tunnel like sheds .There is electric fencing around each shed but non the less hes always wary of a break in .Drove to this spot and sure enough i could see charlie nose down around the wire of one shed and about 120 yds out in the fading light .I got out quietly and sorted the rifle ,had time to get on sticks even and lined up on matey .He was still head down so a gentle squeak saw the head go up and in he came even though i was now in full view of him .Shot him at no more than 25 yds still trotting ,a brute of a thing that weighed 24 1/2 pound on the farmers scales .Farmer phoned straight away ,a habit i will get him out of and was pleased to know i bagged him .Waited till it was propper dark and had a wiz round with the lamp but nothing . JohnGalway 1,043
Nice looking fox! Have had a few very near misses with phones ringing, closest was just as I squeezed the trigger, fox never heard it though Quote Link to post
