Squirrel_Basher 17,102 Posted March 17, 2007 Report Share Posted March 17, 2007 The same farmer who had the trouble with a lamb killer ,phoned me last night in another panic as he'd lost 2 more lambs.Went there on the way somewhere else for a squeak and shine .I only had the .22 and my mate had the shotgun .Same as before ,a fox ran away from the yards as I flicked around with the lamp but a loud squeak had it stopped at around 60yds.Just about to line up a head shot when another 2 foxes came in to join it from out the nearby copse .These 2 were a bit jumpy and kept to the long grass .I was determined to provide a left and right for my mate and tried a variety of calls ,soft ,loud and short and long and eventually one of them decided the time was right and ran in boldly .The chance was there for a definate so my mate had to take it and bowled over a dog fox .The other 2 were on their toes ,safe for another night .We control foxes around this farm and several ajoining farms all year round so we are now wondering where these newcomers are coming from .I think this is not the last we will hear of lamb killing! .
