gonetoearth 5,144
I was at Everton in the 70s when they played Millwall in a cup match , about a dozen Millwall went in the street end and despite being outnumbered by at least 20 to 1 gave the gamest display I,v ever seen at a match ,I swear when there was only one fella left standing he still thought he was in with a chance of winning ,if there still like that it should be an intersting day . probley because all the boys were in the lower bullins then , the st end dad n lads then as now

As much as i hate them you gotta give them their due......the clubs done a lot to try to lose the reputation but they never will........its a sore area and even the biggest bravest hardcore firms have not enjoyed the walk from South Bermondsey or Surrey Quays station to The Den,obviously they all get police escorts now but back years ago you needed your wits about you round there.....they would patrol the streets in groups far enough away from each other to be able to shout to each other if they saw you ( before mobile phones of course ) and when they did see you they,d be on you in seconds from all angles....from London Bridge station to New Cross and over to Greenwich there would be little groups 10 or 12 handed every hundred yards......they never had big numbers but there old motto was...." better to go to war with 5 lions than 500 sheep ".....hence the nickname. They were funny old days looking back, good job we all grow up sooner or later ! Edited September 14, 2011 by gnasher16

gonetoearth 5,144
What do you think of the films that have been made...like Green Street or Football Factory etc....Do you think there alot of bollocks or do some of them portray what a typical "tear up"(couldn't help that ) was like on the day? Whats your view on Donald Mcintyre.......... Mcintyre ... Any man who gets a Chelsea tattoo done just to make a tv programme you have to ask yourself how desperate he is to get on tv ! That film Green Street was completely cringeworthy and a total embarrassment....a bunch of xilly little kids running round shouting in American accents whats all that about ! Football Factory was a film i quite liked actually....it was a lot more accurate to how those days were, and the locations it was filmed were some of the exact places......them tunnels run up the back of the Old Den and there not a nice place to be .....That film showed more about how it wasnt just about match day,it was an everyday thing.....i remember about 15 of us travelling over to the Silwood estate Bermondsey because my pal had seen a van for sale in the paper ...thats how it was back then you wouldnt want to get caught out round there on your own, that Football Factory film was very much like it used to be,but why they based it on Chelsea i dont know !!.....West Ham led the way with all that, even showed the scruffy northerners how to dress....the icf were the first club to ever have an under 5,s mob for the younguns......nowdays its all too serious it was more of a laugh back then all you had to worry about was each other.....now their getting nicked, banged up and banning orders bollocks to all that. scruffy northerners  f**k me gnash millwall in there butchers coats and your firm in fila blag
