Blue one 89
Personally, I keep my old dogs on in their retirement. They deserve it, I have the space and I have the opportunity to let them do a bit of mooching and bushing everyday out on exercise. BUT I can understand if someone doesn't have the space, time etc, but what should you then do? I've had too many dealings with dodgy people to ever let an adult dog go again unless that person came highly recommended from someone I trust, or I knew the person very well. I'd honestly sooner put the dog down rather than worry what has happened to it and maybe hear later that it had been passed on and on to people who didn't care for it properly. If the dog is no longer able to work then either place it with people who you know will give it a good retirement, not just stuck in some kennel for the rest of its life, or have it put down. Takes guts I know, but there's too many people just getting rid of older dogs: the phrase 'out of sight, out of mind' seems about right for these sort of people. I don't know you, and I've nothing against you, but please think of the dog, its future well being, and what it really deserves. Top post Quote Link to post

Terrier Sam 297
A wonderful thing is karma mate. Sounds like you have no respect for your dogs to me. When you say to someone "there's no more room in the kennel" it's usually an answer to someone asking if you want a dog and not "I've just bought a pup and have to kick this (supposedly good working) dog out". What a crap reason to get rid of a dog. Also, why are you braggin about your lurcher killing rabbits? I wouldn't want to go home with a bag full of bruised, useless meat. You didn't just come across as a bit of a pr1ck........ 1 Quote Link to post
