muddy210 34 Posted August 31, 2011 Report Share Posted August 31, 2011 got up off nights today and thought i would go have a bit of a mooch round see whats happening on one of the farms i have acces to. got talking to the owner who said hed seen a few in the bottom of one of the fields on a bit of clear ground. when i got down there put 2 rabbits down to the bury. with two new ferrets in the box i thought this to be the place to give them a run through. down went the nets collared the ferrets up and enetred them one on of the holes in the field. first ferret messed about in the hole for a minute or two so i removed her and entered the smaller of the two. she went down like a rocket and within 30 secs thump thump thump and bang first rabbit in the net. no sign of the stinker yet so i renetted the hole and removed the rabbit from the tangled net. this rabbit i took over to the ferret that had not been interested in going to ground and let her have a little rag of it. meanwhile more thumping underground and bang another net goes closely followed by the small gill. this time she had no interest in going back down seemed to me like she thought it was empty so nets up and move 100 yards to bottom of hedge row and edge of dyke about ten holes over space of about 15 yards square so netted up and got the bigger jill out to give her another run through. this time she went down no hassle gave her ten mins loads of thumping but no bolters. added the smaller of the jills at the other end of the bury and bang that sorted them out 3 more bolters think they where giving the bigger jill the slip. bigger jill then played about in the entrance of a few holes going in and out while no sign of the other jill. removed the jill that was messing about and turned the locater on to see if i had a lay up. no layup but a ferret that was hard below checking every last bit of the ground able to tell she was moving about as i could get any sort of fix on her. after about 50 mins she surfaced shook her self of mud and waited at the entrance to be picked up with that look on the face to say thats empty whats next dad. had a good look round for some more after that but far to much briars and cover about to net much more cant wait for that lot to come down in a few month. considering both ferrets are last years kits and neither had seen the job before i am well impressed one more than the other but she soon got the idea though. all in all a good few hours out 5 rabbits and a big cheesy smile to take home well chuffed with that.
