J Darcy 5,871
After a hard days work what better way to unwind than a walk out with the gun...its been a couple of weeks since i have ventured forth with my weapon so i was prettyy keep...the trouble was that the branches were blowing like hell!!! now, i hate trying to shoot corvids during summertime when theres alot of wind....its not easy....the tall, towering trees were laden with chlorophyl laden leaves, the tree canopy was dense, btu there was a family of jays up there, making the occasional "chuck" as they fed. Jays dont only scream you know....they communicate by throaty gurgles that are pretty quiet.....these jays were from that nest i found earlier this year....obviously i would never shoot a bird of its nest , and so i let them develop until i could class them as fair game...and thats what they now are....The treees were so heavy with leaves that they cast a shadow underneath, keeping everything under their span in the shade. If you cared to look in the brambles, underneath those jays you might have seen a good looking lad holding his S200 together with his faithful hound. Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
So, after waiting for a while, a window appeared and i made my mark , sending a pellet straight through the jays chest, killing it immediatly. As predicted, it was a this years bird, and i bagged it less than 300 yards from where it was hatched.... Quote Link to post
