geoff37 3
Has anyone been out recently and found that rabbits are more reluctant to bolt than during the winter months. I normally only ferret from Sept/Oct onwards but the kids have been hounding me to go out. I've had a few but definatley harder than in the winter, there dosen't seem to be any really young ones around and no lay ups but ferets and rabbits rattle around the warren for ages, is it just the time of year? max abell 198
No not found that as yet we went out last wednesday and got 14 and they all bolted very easy ? the time we seem to find rabbits are hardest to bolt when there is heavy snowfall or when the doe's are full of young at the end of the ferrreting season they just dont seem to want to come out thats when we normaly call time on that ferreting season Quote Link to post
The one 8,593
It doesn't matter the season some days are just like that other days they seem to bolt the minute the ferrets in the burrow 1 Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,217
Aye, could be so many things. Experienced rabbits won't bolt easy, or those with young, and we often find we have problems on very windy days. Quote Link to post
fcuktheban 140
Did you try different ferrets or just one? Quote Link to post
geoff37 3
Did you try different ferrets or just one? Yeah tried different ferrets, the sets are quite deep though, so maybe bigger than I thought. Quote Link to post
fcuktheban 140
make sure you offer them water after every set. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,217
Maybe just not enough ferrets mate. 1 Quote Link to post

The one 8,593
Aye last year we where doing burrows with seven ,eight ferrets after twenty minutes it was still quiet popped a few more in and the rabbits started flying out . I think it was big and deep and after the ferrets moved them they lost them in the tunnels Quote Link to post
