secretagentmole 1,701 Posted August 14, 2011 Report Share Posted August 14, 2011 (edited) Well as you know Mary has been out of action for a little while and today she decided to take the Vitara out to the permission. Got to the farmyard and opened the roof and sun roof up. Loaded the weapons, adjusted the camo and started out in low ratio. We trundled round and observed over 20 Partridges running about, well only a few more weeks for those. We had seen two 4x4s trundle up to the farmhouse and park up. These two vehicles (one heavily modified Landrover and one jacked up Suzuki) usually hoon about and the rabbits were very twitchy, first hearing of any engine note and they were off. So we just made our way sedately round the permission, told one land owner about the Myxomatosis, as his daughter has a pet rabbit in the garden. Which is going to the vet first thing in the morning. I got a shot at one kit which rolled down the bank into the bottom of the ditch! Going down the track to get to the other permission we encountered someone blasting the horn in his PT Cruiser, trying to get his brother who is the gardener to come out, needless to say he was not there and anything with ears was flying, running or crawling in the direction of off! So we kind of gave up! Mary never even got a shot off with the HW! Never mind... Now the lad whose parent's run one of the local garages father has gone down with a form of leukaemia, his uncle has also borrowed his air rifle and he has never seen it again. He is living above the shop so to speak and is fed up with the pigeons in his back garden crapping all over his van and his bike. He wanted a rifle to shoot pigeons and we have a gas ram BSA not being used. So we took it down to him, he had a couple of pellets through it and we were walking back in when I spied a pigeon on the roof. So I slipped a Crosman into the barrel, lined up the open sights and thwack, dead woodie. Seeing as it landed on the flat roof we decided he could get it for his tea later. We left him very impressed with the BSA and itching to give the pigeons hell. It will help to take his mind off his father's illness... So 1 kit with Mini-Me and a pigeon with Sid!
