deanothehunter 34
I have recently re sprung an old BSA supersport which is currently doing a very consistant 10.31 - 10.37 ft lbs at muzzle. I wanted to know how much energy it would have left at max distance of 40yrds with a 14.3 grn RWS superpoint .22 pellet ? I was told about Hawke chairgun pro so thought I would take a look....... I then downloaded Hawke chairgun pro and tried to understand it and if i did it right its saying at 40 yrds the retained energy would be roughly 4.11 ft lbs if producing 10.31 ft lbs at muzzle ?? Does this sound about right as they say a rabbit skull needs 3 -4 ft lbs of energy to dispatch as long as its placed in the correct brain area ? not that I'll be attempting 40 yarders with this gun but maybe out to my zero of 30 yrds Any help much appreciated.......Deano Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
All depends on the BC, weight and sectional density of the pellet, and the individual pellet form. In .22, you should have about 7 or 8 ft.lb left at 40 yards. With .177, it'll be more like 4 or 5. Quote Link to post
