THE GREAT GAME FAIRS OF IRELAND

Some very BRAVE person under apparently yet another alias has issued a totally unjustified and defamatory attack on me, my colleagues, our hosts,our magazine, our events, my event organisers and our exhibitors.

I have just a few things to say to him :

1.'What a pathetic person you are to come on this forum and sound off behind an alias. ENVY IS A TERRIBLE THING!'

2. We have no problem in stating that our Game Fairs are the best events of their kind in Ireland and while we lead others follow - more often than not very poorly. Who says so : the marketing & tourism professionals who awarded the fair - the marketing excellence award see : http://www.irishgamefair.com/award.asp

Our magazine is the best quality country sports magazine ever produced in Ireland - but perhaps too well written and too factual for this person.

3. The quality of stands at Ballywalter was very good. We did not bulk the fair out by putting in church , gospel groups and all manner of non countrysports stands - nothing wrong with these but not at a secular event. Our Strategy was always to grow a very country sports focused event from 'the ashes of the BASC Fair'. 2011 was a great advance on 2010 in that we had 50% more stands; 60% greater attendance; real international gundogs including a team from Denmark; good local gundogs where each retriever entant got a 2.5 Kg bag of dog food; a very good clay shoot;

excellent terrier & lurchers; a good main arena with very few gaps; punt gun demonstrations; great game cookery demos; and more guns than at any northern event other than Shanes Castle. The prize structure was good, it was televised by fieldsportschannel and BBC4 and the First Minister and Chief Constable attended and enjoyed it. As part of our strategy for growth it was a success.

4. I see he has just joined the forum probably having been exposed before under his various aliases. I cannot understand how he has the audacity to claim he is a T&L enthusiast - when his interest appears much more focused on me and event organising!

5.Our events in Ireland have the support of all of the major countrysports organisations including the NARGC, FISSTA and COUNTRYSIDE ALLIANCE - they were all there at Stormont at our press reception to demonstrate their support AND I DIDN'T have to bully or threaten ANY OF THEM! His allegation in this regard is so foolish to be laughable - do you think I or anone else could bully the Director of NARGC!

And far from being in decline in 2010 Shanes Castle posted record crowds, Birr was second only to Shanes Castle and we rescued Ballywalter, after BASC had collapsed it, to run a successful one day event in 2010 and a good two day event in 2011.

6. I am never afraid to take legal action against anyone who I think deserves it. Taking legal action is a bit of a lottery- yes as this person stated I took on the legal system in Scotland and I lost - but no costs were awarded for the other side as the decision was hard fought on a point of law and led to me winning another case.

7. I NOTE that since I said 'I consider you have defamed the many excellent people who took part in the Ballywalter fair including our host, our event organisers, and our exhibitors and my solicitor will be contacting this forum to have you unmasked on Monday morning. And when you are unmasked we shall see how you do in court on a matter of defamation!' the person has rather hastily and in a cowardly fashion deleted his post.

Any of you who have discussed or debated anything on this forum with me and/or who have met me afterwards know that I enjoy the cut and thrust of debate and I have taken many of the suggestions on board. You will also know that I speak my mind but bear others no ill will if they speak theirs honestly. BUT I DETEST COWARDS and I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANYONE DEFAMING MY COLLEAGUES, MY CUSTOMERS or MY FRIENDS AND HELPERS.

I will be extremely disappointed in the ethics of this forum if the owner(s) and moderators do not take steps to unmask this person as it would appear that he is only brave behind the cloak of what he thinks is anonymity.
