dougie_s410k 1
ok ive been checking my jill daily and havent noticed her to have a swolen vulva at all, but the hob has been pulling her around abit and now seems to have made the back of her neck bleed abit obviously from biting her and keeping her still as he has been doing what knows best but would my jill of come into season without her vulva swelling up? and what would you recommend for the slightly sore neck? to keep it clean? cheers in advance and the jill sends her love Quote Link to post
sureshot 0
get her out and put her in when her vulva is very swollen Quote Link to post
ginge2k6 0
Are you breeding out of them mate, if not just seperate them till september time, if the hob is "scruffing her" its likely that he is in season but not the jill, if you wan't to breed then follow sureshots advice, but why breed, you haven't had the ferrets long have you? Kay 3,709
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...oe%3DISO-8859-1 The link i have put up shows a photo of a jill in season its the pic at the top of the page, thats the sort of size you should be looking at roughly, for the sore neck i would use a salt water solution & gently wipe with a peice of cotton wool , just keep an eye on her neck for a day or so Hope this helps Quote Link to post

FPO 0
Our jills in the past have had what appears quite sore necks, however this hasnt seemed to worry them as much as it worried me. dont know whether it is liscenced for use on ferrets (not much is) but a cream I was given by our vet is called Dermasol, about £5 a tube, but it is a natural soother/healer, originally designed for human use and then used on animals. Have had it for our dog and also on several of the farms where i milk for sore teats. If it does appear to go nasty I might be worth speaking to you vet and finding out if he can supply you with some - Cleaning out our girls today and noticed the same thing on one of mine, no swelling but deffinately ruffed up a little bit, will be keeping an eye on her as she is getting on a bit and dont want her being harrased Quote Link to post
