Aye but when l meant new modern way l meant the new age sheep farmers, my old man and all the other old foggies never used this method, they kept to how it was traditionally done by their own forebears etc. cheers Callum

To be honest l used to help the old man with shearing, inoculating them with medicines etc and rounding them up but that was as far it went for me experience wise as l never really paid attention when they were castrating them. I remember the tails and ears being cut with special scissors oh and l remember tagging their ears. Hated Cheviots as you had to use two ear tags on them as they would nearly always lose one of them and they were always harder to catch due to lack of horns. cheers Callum

mangy1983 51
FFS another thread gone tits up ..started out a bit of fun and got all serious Nature of the beast mate. Serious topics degenerate into name calling and jokes etc. but you might actually be on to something! In all my three years on the Hunting Life l have never seen a topic that started of as a pi55 take turn into a serious one Ps sorry if l ruined your thread cheers Callum
Lab 10,979
It would only have went serious if Mangy had taken the girl comment in the wrong way and he hasn't which shows he's quite capable of having a laugh on which is an obvious piss take thread........good lad.. But on the lamb front i hate the little b*****ds, only good on the plate in my view. My grandad had a small flock of about 15 or so that he liked to have around the farm and would have lambs every year. Getting up in the middle of the night to catch a ewe in distress or nursing some stupid little one whos mother has rejected it....not my cup of tea.. Add that to the fact when they grew up a little they thought everything was a climbing frame and burst countless pheasants pens that had to be fixed, all extra work for no reason in my eyes...
