runforyourlife 361
Last night i was out having a mooch in a pretty secluded area with the dogs.. When just before dusk something caught my eye. It was flying very low to the ground, not very fast, and manoveuring in and out bewteen the trees and foliage. It was a long eared owl. I have previously spotted the species here before about 3 years ago. And hadnt been baCK to see if they were still in the area.. I was gutted i didnt have my camera with me and only my mobile phone.. It was great to watch as it hunted and foraged about, never riseing more than 10ft of so from the ground. At one point it flew past the wall were i was perched and probarbly no more than 5 feet away from myself, finally it landed for a few seconds on a fence post... I will be going back with my camera and hope to get some descent shots. Heres a few of the bird which i managed with the mobile.... Russ P.s, also the ground it was hunting on...
