rob190364 2,594
We all eat meat from the supermarket right? well I've noticed something that kind of sets alarm bells ringing a bit. I give my dog and ferts fresh chicken, lamb and beef from Tesco, they'll eat it fine and then every now and again (quite frequently) they will both turn their noses up at the meat even though it smells fresh and has a few days left on the expiry. They always do it on the same meat aswell, for example if I open a pack of chicken legs and the dog won't eat them, I know for a fact the ferrets won't either, tried it loads of times. I then open a new pack and both will eat them. Makes you wonder what it is that they can smell that we can't, and that we would just eat, obviously after cooking, but if it's a chemical contaminant rather than bacterial then cooking might not remove or affect it. Strong Stuff 2,171
I'd agree with the chicken wings, had it happen twice now, and he's deffo not a fussy eater. Second time I left them down for 2 days as I thought he was being an arse, and he still didn't eat them.
rob190364 2,594
Yeah it seems to happen with wings more than anything else. I know that if they haven't eaten it within 5 minutes they won't eat it regardless of how long it stays down. Never seems to happen with turkey though for some reason. Must be treated differently? rob190364 2,594
That is proper dodgy!!! Can't be that though cos most of the time it's either chicken legs or chicken wings, sometimes its beef but usually it's chicken.
