Well I finally bit the bullet and bought an FAC air ranger. It's a 40ft/lb .22 although I haven't had it chrono'd I have no reason to doubt that after I took it out hunting. Was very impressed with the grouping despite it being a windy day, I'm using H&N baracuda's which the guy I bought the gun off gave me, seems to like them a lot, what else do you guys recommend bisley magnums? The one thing I don't think I can live with on the gun is the barrel, my word is it long with the mod on! I'm thinking of having it chopped by A & M custom gunsmiths, the question is how much should I have cut off and from which end, i'm thinking removing about 7" from the muzzle to remove the shroud? I've seen a base jumper on here who had his chopped to just past the bottle and I must say I think it looks the nuts. Would love to hear what he thinks about the rifle now he's had it done. What are the drawbacks to a barrel chop, how much power and accuracy am I going to lose? I'm not quite sure what mod it has on at the moment, looks a bit like an air stream but not sure it is, when I get the barrel chop I will put a twink MKII on instead.

Hello mate, I have an Airwolf, and with the silencer on your right it is long. If you get an airstream mk iv, the shroud of the barrel actually screws up in to the silencer by about half the length of the silencer so it adds only a couple of inches to the length

If you cut the barrel, you will cut the power and use more air. It is what it is, my 34FtLb S410 feels like a flipping cannon, shoots great with AA Field zero at 45 yds for 1/2" high at 35-40 yds.

Hi,

Also, if you shorten the barrel at all from the muzzle, you will remove the choke constriction that gives your rifle that great accuracy.

And as for shortening from the breech end, that's a job for the factory or those that do such work for a profession, and it won't be cheap.

You're best to leave the barrel well alone mate and buy that reflex type Airstream mk4 mod like Tony D recommends.

if you shorten barrel you will have to change other parts to get gun back to 40ftlbs.i'm not sure if your barrel will be choked as i'm pretty certain the bigger calibre model at 80ftlbs is not.the gun looks good as is mate i would just use it and enjoy.its not a big thing to get it machined if you do take that route.as for pellets aa field plus are good for those powers and being 18grains will fly flatter than bis-mags or barracuda's.hope this is some help.
