Holiday in June

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at travelling around Britain (to Scotland and back stopping along the way) in June/July time camping or staying in B&B's with the missus, my little girl (will be 2 yrs old) and two dogs. Last time we went camping on Dartmoor I found a campsite on the internet that said 'set in the heart of the moors' but what we found when we got there was a caravan park complete with arcades and disco! in the middle of an arable farm! not quite what we were expecting! From the photo's on here, some of you live in beautiful countryside so I'm trying to get a bit of insider info on where to stay (got to have a good pub within hiking distance!!) and maybe what to see or do when there.

Any help on this guys and girls would be much apprieciated.

cheers

Luke

Well if your down near me ( worcester ) there are plenty of caravan sites/ B&B's.....no arcades though

I can forward you some details if you like?

The countyside can be quite beautiful, and if your bringing your dog's there is plenty of walking for them, should tire the kid's out too!!

And nice pub's.......don't get me started :laugh: plenty......real ales, simple and nicely priced home cooked grub.

For the more adventurous......a pub nearby specialises in thing's like Hare, Rabbit, Squirrel and even been known to have hedgehog on menu!!

But for the kid's sake.....a good Maccy D's or chippy is always on hand

Thanks Charlotte,

If you could send me details that would be great, it's on the M5 so perfect for travelling and it's near the welsh border, so could be a great place to stop off on the way up (I'm in south somerset).

Did you need my email address?

I've had 'adventurous' food before, from deep fried locusts to pan fried ants with chile and lemon grass!

We eat rabbit on a regular basis and I've tried Squirrel once - can't say I enjoyed it as much as Hugh Fernley Whittingstall lead me to believe I would!!! but never tried Hare (always wanted to try jugged hare, sounds nice) and certainly never Hedgehog!!! I didn't even realise you were allowed to catch them, let alone eat them! :icon_eek:

Thanks again

Luke.
