Hepher 86
HOW HAS THE SEASON BEEN FOR THOSE THAT ARE CARRYING OUT KEEPER DUTIES? HAVE YOU NOTICED A RISE/DROP IN FOXES? TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE VIGILANTE RIFLE BRIGADE THAT STOMP OVER EVERYONES PERMISSION SHOOTING FROM THE ROAD. HAVE YOUS HAD ENOUGH WORK FOR YOUR DOGS AND WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON PPL WORKING OVER YOUR PERMISSION? Quote Link to post
FightTheBan 1,147
I do terrierwork on a fair few estates all over scotland. One in particular shoots, snares, lamps etc over 250 a year. I was there 4 times last season and hit on every time. Been cubbing there for 10 days and have had 9 litters so far. I think there is a big difference if there are foxes to fill in from outwith the site. If its wall to wall keepering the foxes don't have a chance. FTB 1 Quote Link to post
"Earth!" 503
I too do the majority of estates around here and had a call this morning from a keeper saying hes not seen as many foxes. Will be on the ground tomorrow Quote Link to post
Tassa 64
I know that fox numbers close to me are very low and last season failed too find foxes in places i've been getting plenty in past years but as you say trigger happy riflemen and gun gangs causing problems. Have stumbled upon foxes lying dead in the middle of fields that have been hit with rifles. Quote Link to post

I dont shoot or anything but I know people who do on estates round my way and on there permission they have no end of trouble with lads with terriers and lurchers on there permission... the worst thing is there spoiling it for me because if they werent getting as much chew id be aloud on with my dog without a doubt... I was out with them last night and had a few goes with the rifle and its harder than Its made out... i think il stick to the dog regards Quote Link to post
